‘In ten sessions you will feel the difference, in twenty you will see the difference and in thirty you’ll have a whole new body’ Joseph Pilates
Pilates is based on the work of Joseph H Pilates (1880-1967). He was a sickly child suffering from rickets, asthma and rheumatic fever. He chose to explore physical activities in order to overcome these ailments. By practising body-building, gymnastics and diving and studying eastern and western philosophies and exercises he gained the knowledge to develop his own system of exercises, that we know as Pilates, today!
Pilates teaches the body good movement patterns, correcting faulty ones and any muscle imbalance. Pilates will improve your posture, keep your joints healthy and in correct alignment, provide greater flexibility, lengthen your spine and tone your body. It is a method of exercise designed to stretch, strengthen and balance the body and mind. It is a method of body conditioning that can benefit everyone, age and fitness are not a barrier, in fact it is even more a reason for you to start.
